CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WVEC) -- Three people have been displaced from their home after a fire broke out over the weekend in Chesapeake.
Firefighters were called out to the 400 block of Kings Gate shortly after 6 p.m. Sunday. They arrived to find flames rising up from the second floor of a two-story home.
The Chesapeake Fire Department said the house fire near Oak Grove Lake Park was started by a cigarette. It had been discarded outside the home, but spread to the inside.
The fire caused major damage, but was prevented from spreading to neighboring houses.
No one was hurt.
