Police arrest man accused of robbing ABC store in Hampton

Police said Antoine Dion Harris robbed an ABC store in Hampton on Feb. 14.

HAMPTON, Va. —

A manhunt has ended and a suspect is in custody following the Valentine's Day robbery of an ABC store in Hampton, police said.

Antoine Dion Harris is charged in connection with a business robbery that happened around 4:08 p.m. in the 2000 block of Nickerson Boulevard.

Police said a man entered the store with a firearm and demanded money. He walked off with an unknown amount of cash.

Dustin Shattuck lives just yards from the shopping complex, and said crime like this happens a lot.

“The whole shopping center, those shopping centers side-by-side are kind of hot spots for activity. Cops are here every night, and we hear gunshots," said Shattuck.

Shattuck said that the shopping complex has posted signs that say no one should trespass.

“Pieces of paper from the Hampton City police are posted up that say 'no trespassing.' The police are looking at this property, if you do try to attempt anything, the police should already be here," said Shattuck.

Harris, 30, of Richmond, had been known to frequent the Hampton Roads/Tidewater area. Before his arrest late Sunday night, police had said Harris was considered armed and dangerous.

Harris is charged with one count of robbery, one count of abduction, two counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, one count of carrying a concealed firearm, and one count of shoplifting.

He is currently being held at the Hampton City Jail.
