Newport News police investigate stabbing on Roanoke Avenue

Police found a 38-year-old suffering from a stab wound to his chest.

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — Newport News police were called to the scene of a stabbing on Monday.

Emergency Communications received a 911 call around 2:15 p.m. in reference to a stabbing in the 3300 block of Roanoke Avenue by the Big Apple Food Mart.

Responding police officers and fire personnel found a 38-year-old Newport News man suffering from a non-life threatening stab wound to the chest. Police said he was stabbed in his left chest area and his left hand.

Police reports said the victim appeared intoxicated and uncooperative.

Medics took the man to a local hospital for treatment. Police have not released any suspect information at this time.
