KILL DEVIL HILLS, N.C. — The Kill Devil Hills Police Department is warning residents about a new DIRECTV scam.
A resident recently told police they were scammed out of over $400 by someone posing as a DIRECTV salesperson.
The scammer told the victim he was eligible for a special promotion being offered by DIRECTV, EBay, and Century Link. The victim was told that for a one-time payment of $425 he would be eligible for a reduced DIRECTV monthly bill for the lifetime of his subscription.
The victim was asked to make the payment using EBay gift cards, which he did.
The scammer provided a callback number of 877-201-0016 ext. 774.
