Police: Man accused of robbing Norfolk bank in custody

Police caught the man in the 300 block of Naval Base Road.

NORFOLK, Va. — A man is in custody after Norfolk police said he robbed a BB&T Bank on Wednesday afternoon.

Norfolk police detectives charged Michael A. Goumenis, 45, with robbery.  

The call came in around 12:10 p.m. at 245 E. Little Creek Road.

Bank tellers told police that the man entered the bank and handed them a robbery note. 

The tellers complied, and the man left the bank.

There were no injuries, police said.

Police caught Goumenis in the 300 block of Naval Base Road.

He is currently being held at the Norfolk Sheriff's Office jail without bond.
