DEA, Chesapeake police conduct operation at Virginia Beach Walmart

Investigators said they worked together to complete an operation at the Lynnhaven Parkway Walmart location.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Aisha Blount said she dropped her daughter off at the Lynnhaven Parkway Walmart to grab some tape Tuesday night. While her daughter was inside, Blount said she waited in their parked car.

"I was looking out my rearview mirror at some guys that were actually behind me. They were just sitting inside a truck. Then, all of a sudden, I saw people jumping out of black cars,” said Blount.

Blount said men in an SUV started driving to the front of the Walmart and DEA agents followed.

“I just saw the DEA with guns. They came out and they approached this escalade truck and they had guns,” said Blount.

Chesapeake police confirmed they worked with the DEA on an operation Tuesday night, and that there was an officer-involved shooting in that Walmart parking lot at 7:00 p.m.

Blount said when she heard gunshots she called her daughter.

"I was trying to duck, and all I knew was that there were guns and people coming from all over the place. Something just told me to run," said Blount.

Blount said she got out of her car and ran to find her daughter but fell to the ground.

"I fell face forward while I was trying to get away. My daughter, she kept saying 'mom, mom’ on the phone, because all she heard me say was 'they're shooting, they're shooting.’ So, she thought that I had been hit,” said Blount.

After the situation ended, Blount and her daughter were reunited.

"I just thank God because this could be another story where my family could be burying my daughter and me,” said Blount.

There's no word yet on arrests or the exact nature of the investigation that led Chesapeake Police and the DEA to that Walmart location.
