HAMPTON, Va. — Author's note: initially, the victim's injuries were reported to be life-threatening. That status was changed when more information was released.
Thanksgiving night, Hampton police were sent to Maplewood Street to investigate a shooting.
Dispatch officials said the incident happened around 10:50 p.m. in the 100 block of that street. That's in Olde Hampton near West Pembroke Avenue.
A spokesperson for the Hampton Police Division said the victim was an 36-year-old male, but did not share his identity. He said the man was suffering from non-life-threatening injuries related to the shooting.
A release from the division said officers found the man laying in the road, shot, when they arrived. He was taken to a hospital.
There was not any information about a motive or suspect initially, but the spokesperson asked anyone who could help identify a suspect to call police.
