UPDATE: Chevy Malibu not connected to Portsmouth homicide, police say

A police spokeswoman said the car is "no longer of interest to the investigation at this time."

PORTSMOUTH, Va. — Portsmouth Police said they have located the blue Chevrolet Malibu that investigators thought might have been connected to a murder that took place near the Portsmouth Sportsplex and St. Paul's Cemetery on Monday morning.

Victoria Varnedoe, a spokeswoman for the police department, said Wednesday that the car is "no longer of interest to the investigation at this time."

The homicide remains under investigation.

Emergency dispatchers received a call about the shooting shortly before 10 a.m. Monday. When police go to the 1400 block of Portsmouth Blvd., they found a 19-year-old Melvin M. Moses who had been hit. He didn't survive.
