Hampton Roads Transit offers free rides on Election Day

Bus, light rail, ferry and paratransit services will be free across the six cities served in the area.

NORFOLK, Va. — In an effort to get voters to the polls, the Hampton Roads Transit will be waiving all fares on Election Day, which is Tuesday, Nov. 7.

Bus, light rail, ferry and paratransit services will be free across the six cities served in the area.

"The fares are being waived to give riders every opportunity to get to the polls to vote," the City of Norfolk said in a release.

For information on route services in your area, visit the Hampton Roads Transit website. Voters can visit the Virginia Department of Elections website to find the polling station closest to them.
