VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — A musical film inspired by artist Pharrell Williams' childhood is in the works, and it will be set in Hampton Roads, entertainment news website Deadline reported.

The news website reports that the currently untitled movie will be a coming-of-age musical set in 1977 Virginia Beach and "draws inspiration from Williams’ childhood growing up in the city’s Atlantis Apartments."

Alongside Pharrell as a producer, the movie has several big names attached, including actor Kelvin Harrison Jr. in the lead role and "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" director Michel Gondry.

Da’Vine Joy Randolph, who won a 2024 Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her role in "The Holdovers," is also in talks to join the project, according to Deadline.

Deadline reports the script was written by Martin Hynes, who worked on "Toy Story 4," and Steven Levenson, best known as the screenwriter for "Dear Evan Hansen" and "Tick, Tick…Boom!"

Universal will release the movie, but Deadline's report didn't say when the movie will start production or come out.
