Health experts, VA lawmakers coming together for free, online discussion on maternal health outcome disparities

The Virginia Reproductive & Maternal Health Equity Summit is on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. The event is free and online, or you can attend an in-person watch party.

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — The Lambda Lambda Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated is hosting an educational event this week to inform women in Virginia about reproductive and maternal health.

Black women are more likely to suffer from infertility or even die from pregnancy-related causes; those statistics are part of why the Lambda Lambda chapter is hosting this event.

The Virginia Reproductive & Maternal Health Equity Summit takes place on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. The event is free and online, or you can attend watch parties in person in Richmond or Williamsburg.

The summit will feature "a powerful discussion about reproductive and maternal health outcome disparities."

The event will have speakers from across health and professional spaces including a reproductive endocrinologist, a women's health researcher, a mental health provider, a legal scholar, and more.

Virginia Senator Mamie Locke and Congresswoman Jennifer McClellan will also be in attendance to talk about Virginia reproductive and maternal health legislation.

You can find more information and get your free tickets on their event page.
