CHESAPEAKE, Va. — A Chesapeake man is facing mandatory life sentences after he was found guilty of eight felony counts of child sexual abuse, the Chesapeake Commonwealth's Attorney announced Wednesday.

A jury convicted 50-year-old Jose Alvarado Galdamez Escobar of two counts of sodomy of a child under the age of 13, three counts of aggravated sexual battery, and three counts of indecent liberties by a custodian.

Prosecutors said the crimes happened between January 1, 2010, and December 31, 2014, in the South Norfolk section of Chesapeake.
