'International Night Market' comes to Virginia Beach's Vibe District this May

There is a new twist on a popular classic weekend hangout in Virginia Beach.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — There is a new twist on a classic weekend hangout in Virginia Beach.

Like First Friday events held in Norfolk and Virginia Beach, when the weather warms up people convene on the streets for monthly get-togethers.

But this May, organizers in the Resort City’s Vibe Creative District are taking it one step further.

Inspired by street celebrations across Latin America, they’ve established the International Night Market Series.

The gathering will transform the 20th Street cul-de-sac into a block party for everyone – with an emphasis on inclusion.

At the inaugural event on Friday, May 3rd, there will be a DJ, food trucks offering Latin American cuisine, culinary arts vendors, and a long list of small, artisan business owners showcasing their crafts.

The event will run from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at the intersection of 20th Street and Parks Avenue across from the Virginia Beach Convention Center.

The entire goal is to support and promote an international presence in the Vibe District, something organizers believe will spark economic growth for everyone in the resort and surrounding areas.

The International Night Market will return June 7th and July 5th.

The events are free and open to the public, and free public parking is available on 19th Street and the Virginia Beach Convention Center lots at 19th Street and Parks Avenue.
