RICHMOND, Va. — Eight Virginia breweries won 10 medals in the 2024 World Beer Cup, the Virginia Craft Brewers Guild announced.
The awards ceremony was held on April 24 in the Venetian Las Vegas. The eight Virginia craft breweries earned the following medals:
- Barley Naked Brewing Co., Stafford
Gold — Irish-Style Red Ale: Rock Hill Irish Red
Bronze — Sweet Stout or Cream Stout: Irish Prenup - Bear Chase Brewing Co., Bluemont
Silver — German-Style Köelsch: Kodiak Kolsch - Blue Mountain Brewery, Afton
Silver — American Style Cream Ale: Classic Lager
Silver — Contemporary Gose: Wild Pear - Caiseal Beer & Spirits Co., Hampton
Gold — Belgian-Style Quadrupel: Namur the Merrier Belgian-Style Quad - COVA Brewing Co., Norfolk
Bronze — Contemporary American-Style Lager: Invert - Decipher Brewing, Charlottesville
Bronze — Irish-Style Red Ale: The Librarian - Port City Brewing Co., Alexandria
Gold — Belgian-Style Witbier: Optimal Wit - Three Leg Run Brewery, Chester
Silver — English Ale: Working An Angle
“We are immensely proud of all our member breweries for demonstrating their exceptional skills at the 2024 World Beer Cup,” wrote Brett Vassey, the Virginia Craft Brewers Guild's president and CEO. “Their dedication to producing world-class beers has once again placed Virginia squarely on the global craft beer map. We extend our warmest congratulations to each brewery on this well-deserved recognition.”
The Brewers Association developed the World Beer Cup Competition in 1996 to celebrate the art and science of brewing.
“When industry professionals acknowledge the excellence in products from around the market, the beer drinker can be sure that those brands are the finest available,” Chris Williams, World Beer Cup competition director, wrote in a news release.
