NORFOLK, Va. — The northbound lanes of Hampton Boulevard in Norfolk are back open, after a crash shut them down during the start of Friday afternoon's rush hour.

According to city officials, police had to reroute northbound traffic eastward at Azalea Court toward Colley Avenue, with drivers urged to use Monticello Avenue and Granby Street as alternate routes.

Police didn't say how many vehicles were involved in the crash or if anyone was hurt, however, the City of Norfolk described the crash as "serious".

The southbound lanes of Hampton Boulevard remained open to traffic.
