VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Hundreds of people will take to the pavement to fight for a cure for Type 1 diabetes.
The JDRF One Walk Hampton Roads is on Saturday, May 4, at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront. Events start at 8:30 am at the 31st Street Park, followed by a program, parade, and one-mile walk along the boardwalk.
There is still time to register for the walk.
Type 1 diabetes, also known as juvenile diabetes, is a chronic condition that usually appears in children, making them insulin-dependent.
There are approximately 1.45 million Americans living with the disease in the United States, according to JDRF.
