Baby girl's body had cuts, burns, bruises when brought to hospital, according to Norfolk court documents

Police charged the child's parents, Hilary Johnson, 23, and Z'ibreyea Parker, 21, with second-degree murder and child abuse.

NORFOLK, Va. — Two parents are behind bars in connection to the death of a baby girl in Norfolk. Court documents said the baby girl was cold to touch when she arrived at Children's Hospital of The King's Daughter (CHKD) Saturday afternoon. Authorities say the child also had cuts, burns and bruises on her body.

This investigation began when the baby’s parents brought her to CHKD. Norfolk police officers got a call from medical staff Saturday about an unresponsive child.

Court paperwork said the baby showed signs of abuse with injuries to the head and body. The infant later died.

Police initially charged the child’s parents, 21-year-old Z’ibreyea Parker and 23-year-old Hilary Johnson II, with child abuse.

Police haven't said yet where the alleged abuse took place prior to bringing the baby to the hospital.

Two days later after the Norfolk Medical Examiner ruled the infant’s death a homicide, police charged Parker and Johnson with second-degree murder.

The suspects are being held without bond at Norfolk City Jail.

Both Parker and Johnson had hearings this morning on the latest charge of second-degree murder. Parker is scheduled for a bond hearing on Tuesday. Johnson is due back in court in July.

According to the bail checklist, Johnson told police he's lived in the area for several months. Parker and Johnson told investigators they have no family ties to the region.
